Transgenic Animals

Transgenic animals are produced for purposes such as studying normal physiology and development, investigating how genes contribute to diseases, manufacturing useful biological products, testing the safety of vaccines, and evaluating chemical safety, as listed in NCERT Class 12, Chapter 11 (Biotechnology and its Applications). The generation of high-yield hybrid seeds, however, is an objective of plant breeding and crop biotechnology and has nothing to do with transgenic animals, making it the correct choice for what is NOT an application. Studying normal physiology and development is explicitly an aim of creating transgenic animals, so it is a valid application and not the exception. Producing biological products, such as the human protein in Rosie's milk, is another genuine purpose of transgenic animals. Testing vaccine safety using transgenic animals before human trials is also a recognised application, as is using them to assess the toxicity and safety of new chemicals more reliably than with conventional animals. A consistency check confirms the answer: every option except hybrid seed generation relates directly to animals, and seed production is inherently a plant-based goal, identifying it as the one that does not belong.
